I Well....I was officially a missionary for a year last week...but this
week I will have been in New England for one whole year! It is amazing
how time flies, and how much I have changed. I am forever grateful for
the opportunity I have to serve the Lord and the people of New
England, they are incredible!
This week we did a lot of finding! We knocked doors, talked to people
on the street, and contacted people with potential. We had a variety
of different responses, but a couple wonderful ones where we were able
to bear testimony of the power of our Savior and His restored church.
One person in particular was so moved by our message , and especially
my companion's testimony, that he said that we were some of the few
people that actually listened to him. It was amazing to be exactly
where Heavenly Father needed us to be to bless the life of one of his
beloved children.
Our investigators have kind of dropped off the map. We are going to
try to find lots of new ones this week. We are trying some new
methods, including praying for each person we want to see for the next
day specifically. It is a lot of names, but specific prayers bring
specific blessings!
This week was not the busiest week, but we were very high in spirits!
It is amazing how an attitude can change everything. A positive
attitude can change an impossible challenge into a manageable one!
There are great scriptures about that: 2 Cor 9: 7 Every man according
as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of
necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." And also in the Book of
Mormon: " if a man being evil giveth a gift, he doeth it grudgingly;
wherefore it is counted unto him the same as if he had retained the
gift;"
If we do things we are supposed to do grudgingly, it will not change
us, or really do any good. If we have a positive attitude, and know
that obedience comes out of a love for our Savior, it makes the task
so much easier! So go out and serve someone, and know that you are
also serving God. And be happy!
I hope you all have a great week!

It doesn't matter if that lighthouse is large or little!! ✨
(See attached little and large lighthouses 😁)
Well folks, our Heavenly Father's mercy was beaming all over our
missionary efforts this week! We were able to teach 15 lessons this
week , which was just shy of our goal of 20. We are definitely getting
there though! It is amazing to see how the Lord will lend a hand if we
are dedicated to our goals!
We were able to teach our investigator Carol at Sister Greening's
home. The lesson went very well, especially when Sister Draper
testified of the power of the Holy Ghost and how it has helped her in
her life. She then asked me to describe my experience of coming to
know if the church was true. I briefly related my story, and the
spirit entered into my heart, then filled the room. As I told my
story, I remembered clearly my feelings at the time I came to know
these things were true. I am so grateful for my experience and that I
get to share it. Carol is now working towards getting baptized and we
will set a date with her next week! Our personal experiences can
really touch other people's lives!
We had some great opportunities to teach people we met on the street!
One was Nick, and it all started as a regular conversation. He started
talked about how much he loves his family, and we were able to testify
that our message would bring him closer to his family and feel the
love from his Heavenly Father and from his brother Jesus Christ. He
was excited to hear more, and he we will meet with him in the next
couple weeks! This was a great miracle, but all our contacts didn't
turn out this way. You win some, you lose some, and you also talk to
people that tell you they were there when Christ died. Gotta love
these Mainahs! (Maine-uhs)
I read a great poem this week that explains a wonderful role of our Savior:
O Carpenter of Nazareth,
This heart, that’s broken past repair,
This life, that’s shattered nigh to death,
Oh, can You mend them, Carpenter?”
And by His kind and ready hand,
His own sweet life is woven through
Our broken lives, until they stand,
A New Creation--“all things new.”
“The shattered [substance] of [the] heart,
Desire, ambition, hope, and faith,
Mould Thou into the perfect part,
O, Carpenter of Nazareth!” (George Blair)
No matter how broken our lives may seem, He can heal them. If we come
unto Him, and follow Him, His blessing can be poured upon us. I know
it because I have seen it, and I have felt it.
Hope you all have a wonderful week! Know that a silly sister
missionary far away in Maine is think of you!!

Portland Headlight and "Bug" Light!
August is here! It is beautiful here in Portland! See the attached
photos of the beautiful place I live in!
It has been a long week, but we got the news and Sister Draper and I
are together for one more transfer! We are excited to do some great
work!
Our investigator Nancy actually dropped us... So that was pretty sad.
But we tried to stay positive! So I declared that one person would
accept our message that day. And the next house we knocked on was
someone who wanted to meet with us! We even taught a mini lesson right
there on the porch !
LuAnn is doing great..still the same level of progression. Jaclyn is
progressing, and she said that she feels like she already knows it is
true from when she was taught previously. We committed her to pray
agin to know, and she said she wants to feel it is true in her heart.
She is working on some personal stuff and then she said would be
baptized! All exciting stuff!
Sorry I don't have a ton of time. But I will write more next week!
Here is an awesome scripture!!
"
4 Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a
better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope
cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would
make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being
led to glorify God."
